HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSES PRINTING
In a world awash with digital images, handmade photographs offer a unique experience; an object that can be held, viewed and admired. An heirloom that can be treasured.
Prints made with historical photographic processes offer a superlative alternative to modern inkjet printing. Image formation is achieved through specific metals: palladium (Palladiotype), gold (Chrysotype), silver (Kallitype) and iron (Cyanotype) which create immutable, non-soluble complexes that bind to the paper during processing that, with archival processing, will last hundreds of years. They offer an extremely wide dynamic range, capturing rich, deep shadows and the most delicate highlights. The breathtaking results can vary from completely neutral tones of palladium in cold developer, to striking midnight blues and magenta split toning of chrysotypes and the vibrant blue tones of the cyanotype.
For each of the processes, a negative the same size as the final image is required. This negative can be created as part of a portrait session, or can be supplied by the client, which can be either enlarged digitally via Piezography DN or handmade via analog internegative. Check out the internegative service for prices and packages.
